Win Or Go Home In Game 7 Dual

Hello hockey fans, I am coming to you live from the home of the defending Stanley Cup Champs in Washington, DC at Capital One Arena.  Where the defending Stanley Cup Champions have been pushed to the brink and if they have any illusions of repeating it begins with a critical Game 7 on their home ice this evening.  No one expected the young Carolina Hurricanes to have much of a chance in this series.  I, like most of you out there, saw the Caps wrapping this up in somewhat easy fashion. But now we have a real series on our hands and from an Islander fan perspective LETS GO CANES!!!!! The Hurricanes would clearly be the more favorable matchup for the Islanders being that the Isles handled them with ease during the regular season.  The Capitals on the other hand split with our Islanders this year going back to October when the regular season began.  As far as goaltending is concerned  it would certainly be easier to deal with Peter Mrazek in between the pipes as opposed to Braden Holtby. But hey, it is the NHL playoffs and certain players catch fire at odd times.  So you can be sure the Islanders will be tuned in this evening to see whether they will be staying put in NY as the 2nd round gets underway, or traveling the open road to Washington, DC. You can catch tonights Game 7 between the Caps and Canes on NBCSN channel 212 on your  optimum cablevision provider. Lets Go Canes!!!!!!!

Islanders Look to Close out Pens in 4

Hello there NY Islander fans, I am coming to you live from PPG Arena in Pittsburgh where the NY Islanders look to close out the Pittsburgh Penguins in 4 games to advance to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs where they will either face the Washington Capitals or the Carolina Hurricanes.  Coming into tomorrow night's action the Islanders are coming off a 4-1 victory yesterday and now have a commanding 3-0 lead in the series.  Many critics and sports writers pick the Islanders to finish with 1 of Hockeys worst records across the league.  But they were wrong, the Islanders have come together as a unit and completely bought into what coach Barry Trotz is selling without hesitation. Tomorrows game features Robin Lehner inbetween the pipes for the isles who has not let up more than 1 goal in any of his appearances in the playoffs thus far.  The Islanders defense has been solid having not allowed a point by the Pens stars such as Sidney Crosby and Jake Guentzel.  Hopefully we can wrap up the series tomorrow night and prepare for round 2 whoever the opponent may be.  Let's Go Islanders, YES! YES! YES!!!!!!!!!!!

Islanders Postseason Begins

Hello there NY Islander fans, I am coming to you live from NYCB where the NY Islanders postseason gets underway as they take on the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight at 7:30 pm et.  The Islanders are coming off a remarkable 103 point season under new head coach Barry Trotz.  The Islanders are expecting to advance deep into the playoffs due to their success this year under the tutelage of Trotz.  It will be a tough matchup trying to slow down the dynamic offense that is the Penguins mostly in due to the talent of Crosby, Malkin and Guentzel.  If the Islanders want to score goals and get out of the 1st round this year they will have to take advantage of Matt Murrays weak glove side as well as take advantage of the fact that they have home ice in the upcoming series.  Applying physicality in the fore-check is another element the Islanders absolutely must possess vs. the Penguins in this battle of top tier Eastern Conference squads here in the 1st round. Coming into this matchup the Islanders must stay out of the penalty box and  not take silly penalties because Pittsburgh has a top 5 power play unit this season.  Another key to an Islander victory is goaltending, they will need the top tier play of Lehner and Greiss to be nothing short of just that this series and try to add to their 11 shutouts combined on the year.  Matt Murray will be the likely starter inbetween the pipes for the Pens and like we relayed earlier, the Isles need to take advantage of that weak glove side of his.  On the other end Robin Lehner is likely to start game 1, with always the possibility of a mix and match between himself and Thomas Greiss.  The NYCB crowd should be nothing short of electric tonight which the Islanders really will need to feed off of in order to help themselves gain momentum not only in tonight's game but the entire series.
